American Music Awards : Lady Gaga in Versace Spring 2014

Saturday, July 19, 2014

Lady Gaga in Versace Spring 2014: Lady Gaga never fails to make an entrance, and she didn't disappoint tonight at the AMA's arriving on a white "War Horse" style horse:

She did, however, disappoint me a bit in the Lavender Silk Chiffon Versace Gown that she wore. I would have loved to have seen something a bit more dramatic to go along with the entrance instead of an off-the-runway style. I'm sure Donatella would have made her anything she wanted. After all she did just write a song about her!!

I would have loved to have seen a over the top Versace chain mail gown or take the Guinevere theme even further.

What do you think?!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....86th Annual Academy Awards: 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the Fashion Highlights!

Monday, March 3, 2014

Donatella Versace and Lady Gaga in custom Atelier Versace: La Donatella and her muse Lady Gaga both wore custom Atelier Versace gowns--Donatella in black digitally cut and hand-attached sequins and mesh, while Lady Gaga went the color-opposite, in a white sequined gown with silver jeweled accents. Both gowns are obviously inspired from the two latest Atelier Versace collections of Spring 2014 and Fall 2013 but were not in the actual respective runway shows. These could have been extras that didn't make "the final runway cut", or custom for the two divas.

As it is always the case with Oscars night, the fashion show isn't always at the Academy Awards red carpet but also at the A-List viewing and post-Oscars parties, especially the much-coveted Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Let's take a look at some of the fashion highlights from the stars at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars Party. Lots of attendees did outfit changes from what they had worn for the actual Academy Awards, naturally. An A-list star loves a good Couture Outfit Change....

Jennifer Lawrence in Tom Ford Fall 2014: Surprise, surprise, Jennifer Lawrence DID NOT wear Dior. I think I just fainted and had a mini fashion/red carpet heart attack! For the post-Oscars Vanity Fair party, Jennifer changed from her strapless terracotta red custom Dior Couture to a mirrored sequined mini dress from the Tom Ford Fall 2014 collection featuring a nude illusion base and long sleeves. Love the ankle-strapped heels. The look is chic, simple yet glam. She was also on trend with the whole "metallics"/sequin looks that we saw all night long.

Kate Hudson in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring 2014: Hudson was one of those stars who did an outfit change from what they wore at the actual Academy Awards show. I loved her white custom Atelier Versace silk jersey sequined gown that she featured on the Oscars red carpet HERE, and for the Vanity Fair party, she changed into this beautifully ethereal nude with black sequin applique gown from Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad and his Haute Couture Spring 2014 collection. The gown is splendid, extremely delicate and perfectly made. Also notice that for Kate, they added another layer (or layers) of lining so it wouldn't be so see-through. From runway to "reality" as they say. Kate continued being one of the best dressed of the night!

 Kate Beckinsale in Elie Saab

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Cushnie et Ochs Pre-Fall 2014: English Victoria's Secret Supermodel --and gorgeous girlfriend of Jason Statham--wore a lavender bias-cut silk gown with organza front and side panels and gathered bust detail. She looked beautiful, statuesque and was on-trend with some of the paler/muted color stories that were present at last night's 2014 Academy Awards red carpet.

Anna Kendrick in Atelier Versace Spring 2014: I wouldn't have thought that actress Anna Kendrick was a "Versace Girl" but here she is at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars Party working a very form-fitting black sequin and nude silk keyhole front gown from Atelier Versace's Spring 2014 collection. I think she looks quite good. I also love her side-swept hair and simple accessorizing--a ring and a clutch. That's it.

Anne Hathaway in Custom Viktor & Rolf: Hathaway changed from her custom Gucci Premiere black with silver jeweled column gown that she wore at the 2014 Oscars to this black and white column gown from Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf. The strapless custom-made gown featured a great Trompe-l'œil effect at the torso, inspired by a look seen a couple of days ago at their Paris RTW Fall 2014 Fashion Week runway show (above photo, right).

Jenna Dewan-Tatum: 5' 2" very petite actress/dancer and Mrs. Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum wore a very on-trend silver sequined gown with a nude front neckline inset panel at last night's 2014 Vanity Fair Academy Awards Viewing Party. She looked long and very lean--and very much like a Star--or a newly-crowned Miss USA...and I love that!

Diane Kruger in Valentino Couture Spring 2014: I was waiting to see if anyone was going to wear any of the gorgeous designs from the Valentino Spring/Summer 2014 Haute Couture collection, and thank goodness someone did. Actress Diane Kruger wore a midnight blue lace dress with cape-sleeves. It was delicately stunning, lingerie-inspired and oh-so-Couture-chic.

Miranda Kerr: Australian supermodel--and estranged wife to Orlando Bloom--vamped it up at last night's 2014 Vanity Fair Academy Awards Viewing Party in a sequined halter gown featuring a very plunging neckline, two 1" wide back straps and a very plunging back. She looked very "Hollywood Glamour Goddess" and was right on-trend with the all-over sequin/metallic gown.

86th Annual Academy Awards: Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace Spring 2014

Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace Spring 2014

Lady Gaga, not surprisingly, wore a gown from Atelier Versace Spring 2014 at tonight's 2014 Academy Awards. She is in the new Versace ad campaign, is Donatella's muse (and vice versa!) and well, we all know the song "Donatella"...but back to what she wore: a blush/pale lilac strapless gown with Art Deco-like sequins throughout. The gown was one that was shown this past January at the "Grace Jones"-inspired Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

The gown hugs and fits every curve of Lady Gaga's body. What do you guys think? Do you like the Va-va Voom Hollywood Bombshell Lady Gaga? And was the silk chiffon shawl necessary?

Grace Couture: Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2014

Last night, Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 began with the Atelier Versace fashion show. The show featured a Lady Gaga soundtrack (that "Donatella" song is INFECTIOUS!) and Miss Gaga was front and center to witness it all...

Muse and Designer--Lady Gaga (in Atelier Verscae Spring 2014) at the a dinner thrown by Donatella Versace

The Look: Donatella Versace took inspiration from Fashion Icon Grace Jones and her penchant for wearing hooded couture--usually from her favorite designer Azzedine Alaia...

Hooded Diva: Grace Jones

For the Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2014 collection, the "Donatella Glam Goddesses" were mostly all hooded--a la Grace--in perfectly tailored yet UBER sexy suits, silk jersey draped cocktail dresses and glittering sequined and draped gowns ready for the red carpet. If you have no problem having EVERYONE staring at you at a party as you walk in with your Billionaire boyfriend, then this is your couture.

I can't help but also think that besides Grace Jones, I also can see the fabulous Sheikha Mozah of Qatar (above) as being a secondary muse for this no-holds-barred Glam-a-licious colelction.

Colors: White, pastels, pinks, baby blue, chartreuse, silver, black, royal purple

Trends: Hoods!!! Silk jersey draped Goddesses; cowl draping details; cowl capes, semi-open backs, sequined midriffs/corseting; Art-Deco sequin accents.

Collection Highlights:

La Dolce Vita: Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2014

Sheikha Chic: Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2014

WHO WORE WHAT?.....2013 MTV Video Music Awards VMA's: Lady Gaga in Prabal Gurung Custom

Monday, August 26, 2013

Lady Gaga in Prabal Gurung Custom: Everyone was surprised at the "subdued" Lady Gaga as she made her 2013 VMA Red Carpet entrance in a rather nondescript (for her) black gown; nothing screamed "Look At Me!" and nothing too controversial...in other words, rather a "slow night' for Lady Gaga in terms of Red Carpet Appearances. But is it really?

Elvira Goddess: I kinda liked it. I would say that my review is a bit "reserved". Did I expect more from her? Yes. Is it a bit 1996, pageant-y, disjointed and "Elvira" at the same time? Yes, but it kind of works on her.  Lady Gaga wore The v-neck satin gown with a sash tied to the waist and featured a tulle
train with rubber rosette appliques. It was styled with a black furry
clutch, jet-black wavy hair, and a coral lip color.

Lady Gaga and Dad Joe Germanotta attend the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center--Do we like her 2013 VMA gown? Is it a "Yeay" or "Nay"?
