This past Friday, I had the honor and opportunity--along with my co-designer David Paul--to showcase our NIKOLAKI Fall 2014 Red Carpet Gowns Collection at a special party to kick off the 2014 Los Angeles Democratic Convention. The party was held at Grand Hope Park, adjacent to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM Downtown L.A. campus. The event/party organizers were big fans of my designs and "Project Runway" and thought what better way to showcase the fact that LA and Hollywood is a Red Carpet Town by giving the guests of the party a little fashion show!

Last week, I had the honor of hosting a fabulous FIDM Red Carpet Trends Fashion Show at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM Museum showcasing the newest "Red Carpet Collection" gowns from the NIKOLAKI line designed by myself and David Paul.

The evening was a celebration of all things Hollywood and Red Carpet. In the lead-up to the Academy Awards, FIDM Museum asked me to host this fabulous event in the "foyer"/lobby of the new 22nd Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design Exhibition. As an alumni of FIDM and the College's Official Spokesperson, of course, I jumped at the chance. I was also honored once I found out that the ever-so-chic Barbara Bundy--FIDM Museum Director and Vice President of Education at FIDM--would be introducing me!

Not only would I show what trends one might see on the 2014 Oscars Red Carpet with our NIKOLAKI
gowns but there would also be Champagne, "savories" (a mashed potato
bar!), plus every guest had a chance to check out the fabulous
exhibition which includes over 100 costumes, including the five Academy
Award nominees for Best Costume Design.

Last week, I had the pleasure of driving to San Diego with my NV Nick Verreos and NIKOLAKI design/business and life partner David Paul, as well as our little pupster, Benny--to attend the final day of the last Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM 3 Days of Fashion 2013 at the FIDM San Diego campus. It's always a treat to come to San Diego since David's family lives there and therefore, it is a nice added bonus to see them...

Nick Verreos--FIDM San Diego "3 Days of Fashion 2013"

I have already been to FIDM Orange County, San Francisco and Los Angeles, so this was the last stop on my "Nick FIDM 3 Days of Fashion Summer Tour". As part of my "FIDM 3 Days of Fashion" appearance, I was able to bring some of my NV Nick Verreos and NIKOLAKI dresses/gowns. We checked in the night before at my favorite San Diego hotel, the Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego hotel (they allow dogs!)...

Welcome Wine and Chocolates: The Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego had a lovely bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and chocolates in my room as a lovely "Welcome Back Nick".

David and I went to meet up with David's mom, Conchita, his sisters Elise and Marisa and his beautiful nieces Emilie and Samantha. It was an amazing sight to see David's mom as well as his sisters all wearing "NV Nick Verreos" dresses (they bought them all online!). After the photo op, we all dined at Roseville Cozinha. Benny Oopsie: Finally--after my appearance, David, Benny and I checked out of our Solamar Hotel and noticed that they hadn't "welcomed" our little Benny when we checked in the day before (left photo above). I tweeted this and well, the Hotel Solamar Kimpton peeps fixed that very quickly, as see on the photo on the right :) (the Valet guys' face says it all...in other words "I'm sorry!"). Don't worry Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego, Benny still "Woof-Woof" luvs you:
