Wedding Couture: Nick Verreos and his sister Rita Verreos--Rita weraing a NIKOLAKI by Nick Verreos/David Paul custom NIKOLAKI silk crepe and paillette sequined gown

This past Saturday was a very special occasion: my sister Rita, got married. She married actor/writer/producer Carl Mergenthaler. Carl is originally from Mexico City, Mexico and knows how to cook REALLY well (LOVE his Scallop Salad!) and also knows how to make a DELICIOUS Dirty Martini (Hello!)...

Carl also is like a "Horse-and-Dog Whisperer"...in other words, he's amazing with all animals.

My partner David and I headed to a beautiful Ranch in Topanga Canyon--about an hour away from where we live in LA--the site of their wedding.

My Sister's Wedding NIKOLAKI Gown:

Wedding Fab: David and I decided to make my sister Rita a very special gown for her second wedding--one that wouldn't be too "Wedding Gown"-like and at the same time, still have that "Wedding Gown" effect. I asked my sister for her measurements and without a single fitting, we made her this gown above. The gown features a hand-sewn sequin paillette  over silk chiffon top section, hand-molded--attached to an off-white silk crepe column floor-length skirt with side slit and train. The style also featured an open back--something my sister asked for.  It was based on a combination of these two NIKOLAKI Collection dresses:

NIKOLAKI: Sequined mini cocktail dress (left) and silk crepe-back satin gown with cowl drape back

The dress took about 100 hours of labor (sewing, pattern, draping) to make and it looked AMAZING on her!

Flower Girls: My beautiful niece Casia--and Gwen--Wendie's niece--were the flower girls. Oh, and I was a "Bridesmaid". But back to my niece: she wore my NV Nick Verreos "Bianca"  printed tie-neck shirt dress with in-seam pockets:

Nick Verreos On The Big Screen--FIDM Debut 2014 Fashion Show, Barker Hangar Santa Monica CA

Last week was the fabulous FIDM DEBUT 2014. As the Official Spokesperson for FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, I had the honor of hosting and opening the FIDM DEBUT Fashion Show this past Thursday and Friday at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar--in front of THOUSANDS of attendees!

Step and Repeat Outfit Change: I hosted both Thursday and Friday and naturally, I had different ensembles...On Thursday I wore my red H & M jacket and striped bow tie and on Friday, I wore my apple green/golden jacket from Topman and striped bow tie. Both of these pics were from my "Nick VIP Tent" that was adjacent to the Barker Hangar tent site of the FIDM DEBUT 2014 show.

I had such a BLAST MC'ing both FIDM DEBUT 2014 shows--here are some pics...

Hope to see you next year! xoxo

Nick Verreos, NIKOLAKI fashion designer and FIDM Spokesperson--FIDM Museum

A couple of weeks back, during the 2014 Oscars week, I had the pleasure--and honor--of filming a special "Red Carpet Trends and Preview" segment at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and FIDM Museum using several of my NIKOLAKI Fall 2014 gowns for Britain's ITV Network.

NIKOLAKI designer and FIDM Spokesperson Nick Verreos with ITV's Ross King and a model in NIKOLAKI gown--ITV "Oscars 2014 Red Carpet Trend" segment, FIDM Museum

ITV Entertainment Correspondent Ross King for ITV's "Daybreak" and "Lorraine" TV shows, interviewed me on what the possible Oscars 2014 Red Carpet trends would be and I showed him via my fabulous gowns. I have filmed segments with Ross before and he is so affable, so charming and very professional. And need I add, a dandy in the style department!

Check out some more pics I got from the shoot:
