Last weekend I flew to Columbus Ohio to host the Macy's "Fall's Five Essentials" Fashion Show at Macy's Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus Ohio. I was so excited to come back to Ohio. I had hosted various events in Cincinnati for Macy's but this was my first time in Columbus...

Last Thursday night, I had showcased my NIKOLAKI Collection--along with my NIKOLAKI Co-Designer David Paul--as part of Vanidades "Magia de la Moda" Funkshion Miami Beach Fashion Week (Look out for a RECAP of that on this blog soon!) and had to fly out to Ohio the very next day. In fact, my plane left at 5 AM so I called a taxi for 3 AM to take me to the airport. To make a long story short, I made it to Ohio by 9 AM in time to shoot a couple of Columbus Ohio Morning/Daytime Talk Shows to promote the Macy's event.  Remember, this outfit was what I wore on my 5 AM flight from Florida to North Carolina (my transfer city) to then, Ohio, so can you only imagine the looks from the passengers thinking "Why Is This Guy Wearing a Purple Jacket and skinny black tie...at FIVE in the Morning???"...

First up was Good Day Columbus on WTTE FOX 28 with anchors Shawn Ireland and Marshall McPeek.

I had a blast with Shawn and Marshall showing them some of the Five Essentials Of Fall fashions I would be showcasing later at Macy's Polaris, and somehow...

They coaxed me into being part of a "Mongolian Grill" food segment of their show--Nick Verreos and "bd's Mongolian Grill" Chef

Next...I was on "Daytime Columbus" afternoon TV Show with host Gail Hogan, also discussing Macy's Five Essentials of Fall and what I have been up to recently...

I brought 3 models with me to show a "preview" of what attendees would see at Macy's Polaris Columbus Ohio. The models featured these themes from our Macy's show: Military Jacket, Oversized Cardigan, Printed Pant and Sheath Dress. Gail and I had a great time; she said she was happy I was a bundle of energy (I think it was all the coffee I drank trying to stay up for 24 hrs because of my fashion show and flights!).

Nick Hearts Meg in Columbus: After my event, I made a pit stop to the Sephora at the Polaris Fashion Place mall, and stocked up on one of my "guilty pleasures": Guerlain Terracotta Spray. Thanks to the ever-so-fabulous Meg Perkins (above), I was taken care of :) PS: Meg Rocks--and her eye and lipstick makeup is SuperFab!



Oh, and did I mention that as a BONUS of hosting the Macy's event, I even got my eyebrows done..or shall I say, "fixed" by Brow Expert Angie Vera at Benefit Brow Bar, Macy's Polaris Fashion Place Columbus Ohio...

 Nick Verreos Hosts 2013 Macy's Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Event, Macy's On State Street Chicago

Last week, I had the chance to fly to one of my favorites cities in the US: Chicago! This was my next stop in the fabulous "Macy's Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month" events celebrating the 2013 Icon of Style, Latina Superstar THALIA at the Macy's On State Street store, naturally!

If you have been keeping up on my blog here, a couple of weeks back I was in NYC Macy's Herald Square to host Manhattan's "kick-off" event WITH Thalia, where I did a Q&A with her, MC'ed and did some "Thalia Fans Crowd Control". You can read my recap of that event HERE. But this time, it was all about...

CHICAGO

This particular event was to celebrate Thalia and her Fashion Style with a "Thalia-inspired fashion show" and her music. I always love coming to Macy's on State Street and looking up at the gorgeous--and very iconic--Tiffany glass ceiling:

Right after I arrived at Macy's on State Street, I headed to the executive offices to "get comfortable" and relax prior to hosting the event. On the way there, guess who I ran into: Project Runway Season 11 and Season 12 designer Kate Pankoke! I just about fell off my YSL Johnny Boots:

Kate happened to be there because she is one of the designers in the Chicago Fashion Incubator. The CFI at Macy's on State Street provides
six emerging Chicago-based Designers In Residence (DIR) with the
resources, business acumen, and mentoring to launch their careers in
fashion. Now, why was Miss Kate there? Well, the six designers (including Kate)--and two alumni--competed in a "friendly competition, as part of the Driehaus Design Initiative, to design a modern day garment inspired by an impressionist painting from the mid-1860's to the mid-1880's in the museum's exhibition. This is the beautiful red gown Kate made:

 It was inspired by a painting by Jean Beraud from 1878 titled "A Ball" (one of my favorites from the period)--Macy's on State Street Chicago

The event was a fabuloso party (naturally, since I hosted it!), featuring a DJ spinning Thalia tunes, food being passed around (churros!), a photo "booth", "virgin" Mojitos, as well as a runway show with Thalia-inspired clothing--all from Macy's of course. Here are some pics from the runway show:

Color Blocked: One of the designs shown was actually IN THE WINDOW at Macy's on State Street--a great color-blocked red and black Michael by Michael Kors dress with gold armhole studs. This is the same dress style that Thalia wore in the NYC event:
