This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of flying to San Francisco to make a "Special Appearance" at the FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising San Francisco campus and their 2014 Open House. After moving from Caracas Venezuela during my adolescent years, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area--"The Peninsula", to be exact--and so, it's always a fun treat to come back to my old stompin' grounds of San Francisco!

FIDM San Francisco is located right in Union Square--a perfect location in the "nucleus" of SF Fashion!

Hello FIDM San Francisco: The FIDM Open House is an event that allows incoming students and anyone thinking of attending FIDM to tour the campus, check out the facilities, meet instructors and alumni, as well as get to know the "FIDM" environment. As a bonus of the Open House--and as the FIDM Official Spokesperson (and Alumn)--I did a "Special Appearance" and speech to the FIDM San Francisco Open House attendees.

Nick Lecture: During my "appearance", I spoke of  how I got to where I am--in terms of my career-- and how FIDM was my "trampoline". I also talked about many other things and gave my "Nick Advice" on how to succeed at FIDM and in the Fashion Industry--and beyond!

 Nick In The OC: Nick Verreos makes an appearance at FIDM OC Open House 2014

This past weekend, I had the honor of making a special visit/appearance at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM Orange County Open House 2014 Open House. I am so privileged that as the Official FIDM Spokesperson, every season I get to visit all the different FIDM campuses and make appearances for their Open House and 3 Days of Fashion events.

Meet Nick: Ready for my "Lecture and Meet-and-Greet"--FIDM OC 2014 Open House

The FIDM Open House is a way for anyone who is interested in pursuing an education in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Graphic Design, Visual Communications (styling, visual/window display), Interior Design--or any of the other many majors FIDM offers--can check out the campus, meet instructors, alumni, etc. And yes, parents are welcomed to attend...and they do! As a special bonus of the Open House, the attendees get to hear my "Nick Story" as an FIDM Grad and my path to success.

NICK APPEARANCES.....FIDM San Diego Open House 2013 Special Appearance, A Photo Recap!

 Hello FIDM San Diego Open House 2014: Nick Verreos and the FIDM San Diego Open House "sign girl"--LOVE her bandana headband and Lycra leggings outfit!

This past weekend I drove to San Diego with my NIKOLAKI design partner David Paul (who took A LOT of great pics in this post! Thank You David!!), for my "Special Appearance" at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM San Diego Open House. The FIDM Open House is a way for high school students--and post-graduates--to get to know the FIDM campus, meet Alumni, instructors and take a tour of the campus (amongst many other things!).

I arrived the night before my appearance and checked in to the wonderful Kimpton Solamar Hotel, located very near the college. The hotel was so classy in that no sooner I had hung my overnighter garment bag, there was a knock on the door; they had delivered a delicious "Welcome Back to the Solamar Hotel" spread of charcuterie, red wine and bottled water to my room: what a way to start my weekend in San Diego! Thank You Kimpton Solamar Hotel San Diego!

Soon after doing a "spritz-and-repeat" and outfit refreshner, David and I went to Island Prime Restaurant to meet David's mom, Conchita and sisters, Elise and Marisa who all reside in San Diego. David's mom had invited us for dinner at this very divine restaurant. The food was delicious:

 Island Prime Restaurant--Salmon and Scallop entrees and the Mud Pie Dessert

But more importantly, the ladies ALL wore our NV Nick Verreos dresses. I. Love. Them. And need I add, they got a bunch of compliments on their outfits! Oh, and guess who was there as well: former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (yes, wearing his neck-brace!).
